Letter from Dr. John Long

As some of you already know, I will be retiring from Sandy Springs Pediatrics at the end of August. It has been nearly 30 years since I joined SSP as the youngest physician in the group. I certainly can’t claim that distinction now, but happily we have added many fine young pediatricians to our group over the years. Most of my original colleagues have already retired, save one who is still going strong.

It has been a pleasure to participate in the care of your children and to share your joy as they grew and accomplished amazing things. My time at Sandy Springs Pediatrics roughly coincided with the arrival of my son and daughter – events that added a new and wonderful dimension to my work that I had not anticipated.

Many have asked what I plan to do after retiring. I have many ideas. First, I plan to devote more time to my hobby – photography. Maybe I’ll finally create my own website or have a show. Also I hope to take some postponed trips with my family, read all those books still on the shelf and maybe take some college courses I missed the first time around.

To all of my patients and families, thank you for sharing your lives with me. May your futures be blessed with abundant health and happiness.

John Long, MD
